Twelve Months

I was really hoping that I wouldn't be posting about being on the waitlist 12 months today. But it's 12 months today. Hard to believe. I thought with the resolution of the investigation one month ago and referrals starting back up 2 weeks ago that I would be posting about our referral.

Got my cranky pants on this morning. Going to give myself just a few more minutes to be cranky then moving on. It's a beautiful day and I need to be thankful.

Sweet Surprise

No, the sweet surprise is not our referral. But it's just as good. Made me so happy I cried as soon as I saw her. This is Firtuna. I was reading Family From Afar (Karen Winstrom's blog) post about Love Letters Delivered. As I was scrolling through the pictures I was hoping, hoping, hoping that just maybe Firtuna's picture would be in this post holding the letter we sent her. And there she was!! I seriously just burst in tears! To see her beautiful smile brings tears of joy to my eyes. I love this little girl and will sponsor her for as long as she lets me!

She lives in Ethiopia and we sponsor her through Children's Hopechest. She attends the Kind Hearts care point with about 90 other children. A team from St. Joseph, MO recently went to Ethiopia to visit Kind Hearts care point and a wonderful woman graciously offered to hand deliver letters to the children from sponsor parents. So thankful for this.

What a sweet surprise! I will be sporting this cheesey smile I have on my face for a week!

The Apple Tree

Superman found an apple seed on the floor after our snack one day early March. He came to me with tiny seed in hand and said he wanted to grow an apple tree. We found this old bag of dirt high on a shelf in the garage. Does dirt get old? I'm not sure. We then grabbed an old plastic cup left over from Halloween and went outside to grow our apple tree.
Koen did all the work.

Check out the apple tree today!

I was so happy that it grew! I was hoping that I wasn't going to have to try and find an apple seedling to buy and stuff in that old Halloween cup.

We'll be eating homemade apple pies in no time!

Cake Pops!

I can't believe I made these! They turned out so cute and are yummier than they look! A lot of work but so worth it. I made them special for my sister-in-law's birthday. Cake Pops by Bakerella cook book gives you step by step instructions and has about 60 different ways to make them. Yum.

I have so much I want to blog about. I get overwhelmed just thinking about it so I decided to break it down and start with cake pops . . . cause they're cute.
